Magura farmers are overjoyed as they have got a bumper production of brinjal. They are also happy over the present market price of the vegetable.
Market sources said brinjal is being sold at Tk 50 per kg in the local market.
DAE Magura said a total of 882 hectares of land have been brought under the farming of brinjal in the district this season.
Rezaul Munshi, a farmer of Nanduali village under Magura Sadar, said, "I cultivated brinjal on three bighas of land this year and earned a profit of Tk 50,000. "I am expecting Tk 20,000 more", he added.
A good number of farmers said they are getting the highest profit from brinjal in 10 years.
Trader Jalil Sardar said brinjal price is high this season. "Everyday we send brinjal of Tk 0.2 million to Tk 0.3 million to different parts across the country from the district."
