An Iranian court sentenced the brother of President Hassan Rouhani to five years in prison, a judiciary spokesman was quoted as saying on Tuesday by the semi-official Fars news, reports Reuters.
In May, Hossein Fereydoun was sentenced to an unspecified jail term in a corruption case that the president's supporters allege was politically motivated.
Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili said Freydoun was jailed for five years but he may face further charges in another case, without giving details, Fars reported.
Meanwhile, Iran has sentenced a person to death on espionage charges for the United States, Gholamhossein Esmaili, the spokesman for Iran's Judiciary, announced here on Tuesday.
Esmaili did not identify the convict as whether being an Iranian or foreign national.
Two Iranians, Ali Nefrieh and Mohammad Ali Babapour, have also been sentenced to 10 years of jail each on spying charges for the United States, Esmaili was quoted as saying by the Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA).
Besides, the Iranian Mohammad Amin Nasab has been sentenced for 10 years in prison for spying for Britain, he added.
Another report adds: Iran has created a sophisticated network of underground arms caches, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency on Tuesday.
Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of IRGC's Aerospace Forces, said that the underground storage of missiles is a part of a plan to hide and shield Iran's missile capabilities from the enemies.
"Very complex tunnels have been dug under the ground and mountains to store ammunition, missiles, equipment and even (protecting) personnel," Hajizadeh was quoted as saying.
He also said that Iran is among a handful of countries with the know-how to design and manufacture missiles with pinpoint accuracy.
"We are the top missile power in the region at present, and among the seven or eight leading countries (in the missile industry) in the world," he added.
