Iran bans English in primary schools

Iran has banned the teaching of English in primary schools as early learning of this language 'opened the way to a Western cultural invasion'.

State-run High Education Council's head Mehdi Navid-Adham said on Saturday that Teaching English in government and non-government primary schools in the official curriculum is against laws and regulations.

Earlier, country’s Supreme Leader Ayatullah Khamenei said this decision is not against learning foreign media.

"But early learning of English has opened the way to a Western cultural invasion," he said through a statement published in website.
