Oman has decided to bar entry to arrivals from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan as part of the efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

The travel suspension will come into effect on April 24, reports bdnews24.com citing Omani state TV.

Bangladesh is currently battling a second wave of the coronavirus with cases and deaths surging across the country, setting daily records.

The government is enforcing a nationwide lockdown until Apr 28 and all international flights have been suspended until then.

However, special flights are being operated to Oman and four other countries to allow migrant workers to return to work amid the lockdown.
