At least 33 people were killed in a train crash at Buyofwe in the Lualaba province in the Democratic Republic of Congo, UN radio station Okapi reports.

Radio Okapi said the train carrying flammable material, caught fire after crashing into a ravine.

The train was running between Lubumbashi, the second-largest city, and the town of Luena, 2,000km (1,200 miles) from the capital, Kinshasa.

The province's Governor Richard Muyej said there had been an accident but he could not confirm deaths, according to a BBC report.
