Uncovering the hidden talents

THE inherent tendency of our students is to find a job after graduation as our education system motivates them to do so. It would be good if our teachers could motivate and direct them for developing their entrepreneurial skills. I personally know many students who want to do business or something different without looking for an employment. But business needs capital and many parents are not willing to support them with finance for capital.
Hundreds of students graduate every year and the positions for employment are limited. The job market is very competitive and one needs to be rightly equipped to get the desired job. Few organizations follow the basic principles of human resources to recruit fresh graduates and look for persons with working experience in relevant discipline. There is an enormous scope to build a career in our Garments industries. Although most of the EPZ based garments industries follow specific rules and regulations for recruitment, those outside EPZ hardly follow any recruitment rules. There are more garments industries outside the EPZ areas and if they follow a specific set of rules and regulations for recruitment the situation will be much more congenial for employment. Moreover, the industries should take up efforts to create more jobs for recruiting newly graduating students.
Now-a-days many young people are found involved in businesses with small capital like, poultry, livestock, small restaurant, coffee shop etc. They are supporting their family with the small income and reducing unemployment problem in our country. Some of my friends have already started business with minimum capital and they are getting a good return on their investment. So, newly graduating students may like to start business with small money and as there are huge opportunities lying ahead, some of them may be able to bring fortunes for them. We should encourage our young generation and students to step into some kind of business or entrepreneurship. It will help them enter a new life and bring success for them. If we look at the history of KFC, McDonalds, Gloria Jean's Coffee etc, we can see that the founders of these organizations had a humble beginning. In fact, entrepreneurial skill helps people think about doing something different.
The teachers may arrange various workshops related to commerce and management to develop the leadership and management skills in the students. They should motivate the students to forsake old and outdated notions about career building and design a new life with innovative ideas like that of business. They should think in terms of independent life where they will not have to fall back on their employers for everything. They should develop the entrepreneurial talents in them so that they will not have to run after jobs and on the contrary they will be able to create jobs for others. This will also help them uncover their hidden talents.
