Transport strike and public suffering

Published :

Updated :

THE ongoing transport strike across the country has intensified the miseries of the people who were surprised and frustrated at the sudden action of the transport workers.
The transport workers were disappointed at a court verdict that sentenced one of their fellow drivers to life imprisonment for a road accident that killed two persons.
They could very well go to a higher court if the verdict was not up to their liking, but the decision to go on strike causing immense sufferings for people can not be justified by any stretch of imagination. It is sad to see that no one feels guilty to create sufferings for the public, when there are other ways to solve their grievances.
I saw many people traveling to their respective destinations on foot during the strike. Women, children and elderly people are the worst sufferers. We hope the transport workers will get back to senses and will not make innocent people hostage.
