If people want, they can bring desired change to an ambience. Armanitola playground is a glaring example. A few days ago, I went on an official assignment to old Dhaka where I spent most of my childhood and it was a pleasant surprise for me to discover a new and improved look of Armanitola playground. The children of the locality were playing in the new-look playground and elderly people were having a stroll around. It was as if I rediscovered my old playground with its old familiar looks.
Later I came to know that local people came forward and revamped the playground to bring it back to its old shape. It was lying in a shabby state for a long time. I was very happy to see children and adults were happy with the restored shape of the ground. Thanks to the residents of Armanitola, particularly the young people as it is due only to their united efforts, the old glory of the playground has been restored. The Dhaka city is already short of open spaces due to encroachment by influential people and I am sure the city corporations can release many more areas from illegal occupation of influential people and create open spaces. It will be a matter of great relief for the present residents as well as for the future generation.
