Reading is a great habit

THE habit of reading is on the decline worldwide. As a result, publication of books and periodicals around the world is also declining. Public libraries are now almost without books. So is once famous British Council. People cannot be blamed for it as with technological progress books are being replaced by modern gadgets like computer and Smartphones with internet facilities.  All said and done, I think that reading a book still remains to be one of the stimulating habits adding great value to our life. As regular physical workouts help keep our body to stay in shape, reading books keeps our mind fresh and healthy. Researchers have found that reading books can help us in many ways. Just like any other muscle in the body, our brain requires exercises to keep it strong and active. The phrase "use it or lose it" is particularly true when it relates to our mind. The more we use our brain through activity like reading, sharper it becomes. I love reading as it takes me away form the mundane world and its problems. It is a great escape route for me. Let us make a lifelong relationship with books as it is only through books we can travel around and get to know all renowned personalities of the world.
