QUESTION paper leakage is now a common phenomenon all over the country. One can not even think of an examination without disclosure of question papers prior to the exam night. But the concerned authorities appear to overlook these incidents. They are used to put up an attitude as if nothing has happened. A TIB report shows, incidents of 63 question paper leakages in JSC & PES exams from 2012 to 2015. The ongoing SSC exam is no more out of question leakage.
Where is our education going? What will our next generation learn? What will be the future of our hopes? Education does not mean increasing the number of literate people, it means building a nation's backbone. It is essential to evaluate students' performances which s/he learns through out his/her academic life. But the whole education system is in question if there are frequent incidents of leakages.
Lengthy process, unhealthy competition among institutions, lack of proper training of the teachers, abuse of IT (Information Technology) etc. are some of the reasons behind question paper leakages. The tendency of the authorities to turn a deaf ear to these incidents is another reason.
It is very clear that the trend of leaking question paper leakages is destroying our students' merits and talents, but also ruining our intelligence and creativity. It causes massive erosion of ethical values.
The government should look into the matter seriously. The application of 'The Public Examinations (Offences) (Amended) Act, 1992' should be implemented immediately as the existing law is not enough to stem the rot. Public awareness should be raised and we have to make the students understand its adverse effects. This is only how we can save the education system from being ruined.
