THE delayed work of Mouchak flyover has become a pain in the neck for the commuters. The project is yet to be completed although it crossed the deadline by a long margin which is frustrating to say the least. I have to travel through the road every day and I do not know when my ordeal will be over.
Every day commuters like me face the ordeal as they cross Mouchak-Malibagh road. The whole area is in a mess. Markets around the area are suffering as the customers do not want to go there due to unending traffic gridlock and totally dilapidated road condition. Many traders have already closed their businesses as they are unable to afford further loss. The woes of people living in the nearby areas are mounting every day with ensuing monsoon. Many residents are known to have left their rented houses in the area and shifted elsewhere. As a resident of the area I have no idea when the work will be completed. When a construction company is awarded a big project like this, the authorities should make sure through regular monitoring that the sufferings of people are minimised and the work completed on schedule.
