SUMMER is on and we are already experiencing mild load shedding every day and understandably so as our production is less than the actual demand. Situation will be further worse if we fail to economize the use of electricity available. Summer is a difficult time for us when requirement for power goes up by manifold in excess of our generation capacity. Industrial production and other economic activities suffer due to poor supply of power. The issue of electricity production has become a priority for us without which we cannot expect to achieve the desired economic growth in the country. We should save power as much as possible as the proverb goes "waste not, want not". On the other hand, the management of our energy sector should be strengthened to match the growing demand for power. The government should encourage people to save power and be thrifty in power usage.
