Drug abuse in old Dhaka

DRUG addiction is rising alarmingly in the old part of the city and senior citizens are worried about it. It has become a lucrative business for a few who are making windfall gains by taking our young generation on to the path of this deadly habit. Old Dhaka now has turned into a heaven for the drug dealers. It is very easy here to buy and sell drugs. Phensedyl, Yaba and many other drugs are being sold.  Parents are worried about their children as they fear their children may take up this dangerous habit. Addiction to drugs has given rise to the rate of crime in the city and elsewhere. I hope people of old Dhaka will rise to the occasion and wage a fight against this menace and make society safe and healthy for their children. It is high time we raised awareness about drug abuse as it can make our society unliveable if crime of drug abuse continues unabated.
