A team of Dhaka (West) VAT Commissionerate on Thursday fined 25 companies at the Dhaka International Trade Fair - 2019 on allegation of Value Added Tax (VAT) evasion.
The team found irregularities in issuance of VAT chalans to the consumers and depositing collected VAT to the public exchequer.
The team filed cases against those companies under the VAT law after inspecting on the fair premises.
On the basis of allegations, the VAT officers resolved the cases and decided to impose the penalty.
The companies are: Royelex Metal Industries Ltd, Delhi Aluminum, New Style Marketing, FG, Shahjahan Store, Baby Handicraft, The Pearl House, SM International, Mamun Traders, Kamal Enterprise, Nasir Abedin Traders, Ashraf and Brothers, Simura, Nida Trading, Khawaza Hotel and Hazir Biriyani, Miyako Trade International, Hashem Food Ltd., Bengal Melamine Ltd., Nabisco Biscuit and Bread Factory, Grihini Biriyani and Kabab, Dhaka Fast Food and Hazir Biriyani, Siam Fabrics, Towfiqa Food and Agro Industries Ltd., Kiam Metal and Industries, SKB Stainless Steel and Industries Ltd.
Until February 04, the VAT team collected Tk 36.5 million in penalty from the DITF.
