The government has waived VAT (value-added tax) from all stages of post-import storage, marketing and distribution of Covid-19 vaccine.

To this effect, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Wednesday issued a special order to facilitate the implementation of the steps undertaken to ensure health safety of the public.

"VAT has been waived from post-import storage, marketing and distribution of Covid-19 vaccine as the government has taken different steps to contain the outbreak of Covid-19," it cited.

According to the revenue board's order, importers and distributors of Covid-19 vaccine will have to fulfil two conditions to avail the VAT waiver.

The waiver will be applicable only to those who will supply the vaccine to the government.

All financials regarding the funds against vaccine supply also need to be submitted to VAT commissionarate within 10 working days of receiving funds.
