TCB putting on hold its OMS operation from today

After 50 days of operation on the occasion of Ramadan, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is putting on hold its open market sale (OMS) from today (Wednesday), a source said.

After Eid-ul-Fitre, its next OMS is likely to begin on June 03 when the state trading arm will sell essential commodities in different parts of the country.

The operation will be conducted mainly to supply essentials to consumers at affordable prices during COVID-19 pandemic.

The TCB has already applied to the commerce ministry seeking approval in this regard.

Sugar, soybean oil and red lentils will be sold through trucks, according to the TCB.

There are around 3000 dealers listed with the TCB in the country.
