Shippers’ Council holds AGM

The 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB) was held at Dhaka Club Limited on Saturday.

Md. Rezaul Karim, chairman of the body presided over the AGM which reviewed, among others  country’s trade, transport, shipping and port related problems in the context of world foreign trade situation.

Performances of the Council during the period which include measures taken for enhancing its services to the shippers i.e. exporters and importers were also discussed.

The AGM also discussed its inter-action with Asian Shippers’ Alliance (ASA) and Global Shippers’ Alliance (GSA) as a founder member.

More than 100 members attended the meeting. The Meeting confirmed the minutes of the last AGM, passed the Annual Report of the Board of Directors for 2019, the Audited Balance Sheet and Statement of Accounts for the year 2018-2019 and appointed auditors for the year 2019-2020.

The Chairman, Election Board of the Council Dr. R.M. Debnath formally announced the names of new Office Bearers & Directors for the term 2020 & 2021 as follows :- (1) Chairman, Md. Rezaul Karim, Proprietor, S.N. Jute International (2) Senior Vice Chairman, Md. Ariful Ahsan, Chairman, Silk Container Lines Ltd. (3) Vice Chairman, Md. Munir Hossain, Director, Dress World Ltd. and Directors : (4) Arzu Rahman Bhuiyan, Proprietor, Arzu Jute Traders (5) Kamran Uddin, Managing Director, Global Jute Trading Ltd. (6) A. K. M. Aminul Mannan (Khokon), Proprietor, East West Jute Trading Co. (7) Syed Md. Bakhtiar, Chairman, Active Logistics (8) Md. Nurussafa Babu, Director, Electro Mart Ltd. (9) Ziaul Islam, Partner, M.S. Fashions (10) Ganesh Chandra Saha, Managing Partner, International Jute Traders and (11) Ataur Rahman Khan, Proprietor, A.R. Khan & Co. The Chairman conveyed his sincere thanks to the outgoing Office Bearers and Directors and also the secretariat of SCB.
