EBL adjudged Bank of the Year 2020 Bangladesh

Eastern Bank Ltd (EBL) has been awarded the prestigious Bank of the Year 2020 Bangladesh by The Banker, an English-language monthly international financial affairs publication.

The virtual award programme was held today (Wednesday) which was attended by Ali Reza Iftekhar, Managing Director and CEO and Ziaul Karim, Head of Communications and External Affairs of EBL, according to a media release.

Commenting on winning the Award, Ali Reza Iftekhar said, “It has been an honour and privilege to have received the coveted Bank of the Year 2020 award for Bangladesh by The Banker. Winning a truly global award is a testimony to our commitment to the society we operate in, our service excellence, best-in-class banking products and our passion for performance. In this auspicious occasion, I thank our customers, shareholders, forward-looking board of directors, and our regulators, particularly Bangladesh central bank for their faith, support and guidance to help us emerge as a leading financial institution in Bangladesh.”

“This recognition from the world’s longest running international banking awards is a testament to the strong management, sound business model, banking innovations and prudent risk approach of EBL”, he added.

The Banker is read in over 180 countries and owned by The Financial Times Ltd, the release said.

Since 1926, each year The Banker’s Bank of the Year Awards recognises the best performing banks across the world.
