DU business faculty teacher delegation visits Walton factory

A delegation of nine teachers from Dhaka University's Faculty of Business Administration visited the Walton factory at Chandra in Gazipur on Saturday.

The delegation comprises Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, professor and chairman of Department of Marketing; Dr Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, professor of Department of Marketing; Dr M Sadiqul Islam, professor of Department of Finance; Dr Muhammad Shariat Ullah, professor of Department of Organisation Strategy and Leadership; Dr Mahfuzul Haque, professor of Department of Accounting and Information Systems; Dr Mohammad Tareq, professor of Department of Accounting and Information Systems; Dr Md Nazmul Hossain, associate professor of Department of Marketing; Dr Rafiuddin Ahmed, associate professor of Department of Marketing; and Abdullah Al-Mahmud, associate professor of Department of Banking and Insurance.

During the visit, they first watched a corporate documentary on Walton and then went around the factory.

After the visit, Mr Rahman, chairman of Dhaka University's marketing department, said, "There is a saying in English - ‘Seeing is believing'."

"Without seeing the Walton factory, it is hard to believe that Walton is such a big manufacturing industry. We are overwhelmed.

"Walton is contributing to the socio-economic development and also to the national GDP [gross domestic product]."

Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited's Managing Director Engineer Golam Murshed thanked the delegation for visiting the factory.
