Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company distributes relief in Bagerhat

In order to support the common people of the region during the coronavirus pandemic, Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (BIFPCL) has distributed food items and daily essentials amongst 3000 families of 11 union parishads in Rampal and Mongla upazilas of Bagerhat.

Maintaining social and physical distances, Khulna City Corporation (KCC) mayor Talukdar Abdul Khaleque distributed those essentials as the chief guest among the villagers on Saturday in separate areas.

BIFPCL, as part of its community development initiatives in and around Rampal power project areas, has been undertaking various social development and humanitarian programs from the beginning.

Saturday's relief distribution programme was also part of its ongoing community development and CSR activities and under that programme, a family received a bag full of 10 kg rice, two kg potatoes, one kg each of pulses, onions, oil, and salt, and one piece of soap.

In his speech as the chief guest, KCC mayor Khaleque mentioned that Rampal power plant was always with the local community in every difficult situation from its inception.

He lauded the CSR (corporate social responsibility) and community development activities of the company and hoped that these sorts of welfare oriented activities would be enhanced further.

Local people have started getting the benefits of establishing this power plant in Rampal through various praiseworthy initiatives like this day's one, he added.

During this programme, Deputy Project Director of Rampal Power Project Md Rezaul Karim, UNO, Rampal, Tushar Kumar Paul, Rampal Upazila Chairman Moazzem Hossian, Vice-chairman Nurul Hoque Lipon, DM (HR), BIFPCL G M Tariqul Islam and other UP chairmen were present.
