Ten cos account for 40pc turnover on DSE

The ten most traded companies accounted for 40.2 per cent of the transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday, with the United Power Generation & Distribution Company leading the turnover chart.

The DSE saw a turnover of over Tk 2.84 billion amid a steep rise in the broad index.

The United Power generated a turnover of Tk 203.5 million, making up 7.2 per cent of the total transactions on the premier bourse.

The share price of the company rose 0.33 per cent to close at Tk 339.50 each on Thursday.

The Monno Ceramic Industries came second with a turnover of above Tk 196.60 million. It captured 6.9 per cent of the market turnover.

The company's share price closed at Tk 334.10 each, advancing 0.39 per cent.

The turnover of Fortune Shoes stood at Tk 191.10 million, which was 6.7 per cent of the total turnover.

The company's share price soared 3.62 per cent to close at Tk 37.10 each.

The Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited featured a turnover of Tk 102.4 million, accounting for 3.6 per cent of the market turnover.

The company's share ended at Tk 160.80 each, registering a rise of 5.28 per cent.

Grameenphone posted a turnover of Tk 98.2 million, capturing 3.5 per cent of the market transactions.

The company's share price closed at Tk 367.70 each, gaining Tk 3.24 per cent over the previous day.

Of other turnover leaders, Esquire Knit Composite logged a turnover of Tk 91.50 million, followed by British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company (Tk 83.3 million), Reckitt Benckiser (Tk 66.70 million) and Monno Jute Stafflers (Tk 66.70 million).
