ICMAB elects new leaders

Mr. M. Abul Kalam Mazumdar FCMA has been elected President of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) for the year 2019.

The Council of the Institute in its meeting held on Monday also unanimously elected Mr. Arif Khan FCMA and Mr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury FCMA as Vice-Presidents, Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA as Secretary and Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala FCMA as Treasurer of the Institute.

Apart from being Fellow of the Institute, Mr. Mazumdar did MBA from Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University and he is also Certified Management Consultant (CMC) from the Institute of Certified Management Consultants (ICMC), Australia. He also has a diploma with distinction on Managerial Control and Management Information Systems from Netherlands. 

Mr. Mazumdar was also the President of the Institute in the year 2000, Vice President for the years 1996, 1997 and 2018, Secretary for the years 1994 & 1995 and Treasurer for the year 1993. He was the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of the Dhaka Branch Council (DBC) during the years 1989, 1987 and 1986 respectively. He contributed for the Institute’s journal, The Cost and Management, as Editor and Associate Editor for more than a decade.

Mr. Arif Khan is currently working as CEO & Managing Director in IDLC Finance Limited. Mr. Khan also served in Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) as Commissioner.

Mr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury is currently working as Executive Director, Accounts & Finance in Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan is currently working as Deputy Secretary in Finance Division of Ministry of Finance Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala is serving as Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). He worked as the Managing Director of Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited.
