Serai introduces new business solutions, enhanced search and connect functionality

Serai, a B2B digital platform for the apparel industry, has been enabling and empowering the local readymade garment (RMG) sector in unprecedented ways since its launch in Bangladesh.

Even prior to the pandemic, both B2C and B2B businesses were looking towards digitisation to increase sales.

For B2B businesses, in particular, being connected online can open up access to new markets, consumer segments, materials and more.

Serai, a tech subsidiary of HSBC, the world’s leading trade bank, connects buyers and suppliers on their platform, allowing them to build and strengthen relationships. With an initial focus on the garment and apparel industry, the company has seen a significant number of apparel manufacturers, suppliers, buyers and brands in key markets such as Bangladesh join their platform to share information about their company, products and services with interested parties, and grow their business.

Since its inception, Serai has welcomed over 4,000 companies from over 60 countries including Australia, USA, UK and other European countries which heavily rely on RMG imports onboard its cutting-edge platform.

Launched in Bangladesh in November 2020, Serai initially offered a free digital profile building initiative to strengthen the digital presence of Bangladeshi manufacturers and suppliers. This was aimed at helping Bangladeshi manufacturers connect with international buyers, seek new business opportunities and secure a larger share of the global RMG market.

Even in this short amount of time, more than 600 Bangladeshi companies, including renowned ones such as Viyellatex, DBL group and Envoy Textiles are already using the platform. Manufacturers are guided to highlight their strengths and showcase their facilities, certifications and range of products through their Serai profile.

Serai’s team innovate continuously to develop a range of value-add solutions for their clients. Recent developments available on the platform include an end-to-end supply chain traceability solution.
The company has also enhanced the way the apparel businesses on its platform search and connect with each other - buyers are able to upload request for quotations (RFQs) which manufacturers can respond directly to. Any company can also now be searched for by location, business type or degree of connection. This allows those on board the platform to connect with all types of potential business partners including brands, sourcing agents, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and more.
