BATBC’s net profit jumps 19pc in 2022

It declares 100pc final cash dividend

The Board of Directors of British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company has recommended a 100 per cent final cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2022.

The multinational company declared a total 200 per cent cash dividend for the year 2022 as the company already paid a 100 per cent interim cash dividend for the year.

The company has informed that in view of the amendment to Article 77 of the Articles of Association of the Company, an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) shall be required to increase the number of directors of the company as per the BSEC Corporate Governance code, according to a stock exchange filing.

The final approval of the dividend will come during the annual general meeting scheduled to be held on March 29 at 10:30 am. The company will also hold an EGM on that day at 11:00 am through a digital platform.

The record date of the EGM and AGM is March 2.

The company has also reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 33.10 for the year ended on December 31, 2022, a 19.4 per cent increase over the previous year.

The company’s net asset value per share was Tk 76.27 and net operating cash flow per share of Tk 50.04 for the year ended December 31, 2022, as against Tk. 68.13 and Tk. 14.73 respectively for the same period of the previous year.

Listed in 1977, its share remained stuck at the floor price at Tk 518.70 since September 7 last year.

The company disbursed 275 per cent cash dividend in 2021.
