Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the president of the ruling Awami League, will address a public rally at the Railway Polo Ground in Chattogram.
Chattogram City, Chattogram District North and South units of the party have organised the rally where about 1 million people would join. Awami League leaders and activists and its associate bodies are in the final stages of preparation and carrying out campaigning at the public meeting of the premier.
Sheikh Hasina will attend the public rally outside Dhaka following Jashore on November 24 after nearly three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to BSS.
Briefing the reporters, Chattogram City Awami League General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin said, "The Chattogram city will turn into a human sea tomorrow on the public rally of the prime minister."
The former mayor of Chattogram City Corporation continued that Chattogram AL would show its organisational strength from the rally and is prepared to face any evil force.
Meanwhile, a BSS report said colourful arches and gates had been constructed on various town roads with the prime minister's posters and banners.
Leaders have put up billboards, banners, balloons, festoons and posters welcoming the prime minister and the party chief in the city's Jamal Khan, Kazir Dewri, Halishahar, Lalkhan Bazar, Tiger Pass, Dewan Hat, Kadamtali, New Market, Anderkilla and other areas.
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has conducted beautification works on different roads ahead of the rally, including cleaning and painting footpaths, decorating flyovers with colourful lights and repairing dilapidated roads in other areas.
Awami League leaders said the prime minister in the recent party forum meeting expressed her intention to give more time to the party from now on.
The Awami League chief plans to visit different districts in stages before the 12th National Election. As part of this, the first public meeting was held in Jashore on November 24.
Through the public rally in Jashore, the election campaign of Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina across the country began. After Sunday’s rally, she will address as the chief guest the party rally at the Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar on December 7.
In these public meetings, the party president gives new messages to the people as well as AL leaders and activists.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will arrive in Chattogram tomorrow morning on a day-long visit to attend a number of programmes.
During the visit, the prime minister will attend the President Parade-2022 at Bangladesh Military Academy in Bhatiary in Chattogram.
She will also take the salute at the passing out parade at the BMA.
In the afternoon, the Awami League president will address the public rally organised by Chattogram City, Chattogram District North and South AL at Railway Polo Ground.
A 160 feet stage has been built there in the shape of a boat.
Awami League leaders are expecting that about 1 million people will join the rally.
The local administration has taken necessary measures on the occasion of the prime minister's visit and the public rally.
