Sadai app launched for trading farm produces

The government on Wednesday launched a digital marketing app styled 'Sadai' for trading agricultural products with an aim to ensure fair price for farmers.
It is the first-ever marketing app for farm produces run by the government.
"Run by the Department of Agricultural Marketing (DAM), the app will also help consumers to get products at reasonable prices by minimising the influence of middlemen," said Agriculture Minister Muhammad Abdur Razzaqe while launching the app.
The inaugural ceremony was held at the agriculture ministry office in the city.
Sadai app is expected to be a landmark step in the country's agricultural products marketing, he said.
The minister said that output of paddy, wheat, maize, vegetables, fruits and other produces have increased manifold in the country in last few decades.
Now, the minister observed, a proper value chain management has emerged as a great challenge for sustainability of the agriculture sector.
"Our aim is to ensure fair price for farmers, reduce roles of middlemen and provide safe foods to consumers at competitive prices to construct a modern value chain," said the minister.
Agriculture Senior Secretary Md Mesbahul Islam presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Among others, Director General of DAM Mohammad Yusuf, Agriculture Additional Secretaries Hasanuzzaman Kallol, Md Ruhul Amin Talukder and Kamala Ranjan Das also spoke.
Bayazid Bostami, Assistant Director of DAM Department of Agricultural Marketing, introduced the app and said it is the first agricultural marketing app in Bangladesh under government management.
The app's language is Bangla and it would create a direct link between farmers and consumers.
The DAM will monitor quality and sales of agricultural products traded on the 'Sadai' platform, he said.
The 'Sadai' app can be downloaded from the Goole Play Store.
