Govt postpones DITF over COVID-19 fears

Wednesday, 20 January 2021

The government has postponed Dhaka International Trade Fair-2021 considering the risk of getting infected by the COVID-19.

The Ministry of Commerce took the decision on Wednesday, reports BSS.

The DITF 2021 was supposed to be held in March at the newly built Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal area.

“If the fair is taken place in March, visitors will have a risk of getting infected by this deadly virus,” Commerce Secretary Md Jafar Uddin said.

“Considering this, the government has taken the decision to postpone the fair,” he said.

He also informed that the government would hold the fair at a suitable time after the COVID-19 situation improves.

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) usually holds the fair at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital in January every year.
