DMP fines traffic offenders Tk 2.8 million

Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a daylong drive on Tuesday realised Tk 2.8 million in fines from traffic offenders.
A total of 4,974 cases were also filed against different modes of vehicles for violating the traffic rules, DMP said in a statement.
Of the cases, 919 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 88 for using hydraulic horns, seven for using hooters and beacon lights, and 19 others for using tinted glasses.
As for traffic violations by motorcycles, the traffic division lodged 2,153 cases and seized 122 motorcycles.
15 motorcyclists also faced charges for using mobile phones while driving, the statement added.
In addition, the department dumped 20 vehicles and wrecked 763 others.
