DMP collects over Tk 0.89 million in fines from traffic offenders

Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday realised over Tk 0.89 million (Tk 8, 93,350), in fines from traffic offenders in the city.

Besides, a total of 1,769 cases were also filed against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules, DMP said in a statement.

Of the cases, 228 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 15 for using hydraulic horns, three for using hooters and beacon lights, and six others for using tinted glasses.

As for traffic violations by motorcycles, the traffic division filed 887 cases and seized 1,289 motorcycles.

Apart from this, the traffic police also dumped 24 vehicles and wrecked 1,456 others during the drive.
