Deliver faster, simplified services to RMG exporters: BGMEA to Customs House

FE ONLINE DESK | Sunday, 4 December 2022

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan asked Customs House, Dhaka, to make the delivery process faster and streamline other services for RMG exporters.

“Given the stiff competition in the global apparel market, the shorter lead time will help RMG factories to become more competitive in the export market. If Customs clearance procedures are simplified and quicker, it will save time in shipping export goods,” he observed during a meeting with AKM Nurul Huda Azad, Commissioner, Customs House, Dhaka, on Sunday.

BGMEA directors Asif Ashraf and Abdullah Hil Rakib and additional commissioners of Customs House Kazi Farid Uddin and Md Moshiur Rahman were also present at the meeting.

The BGMEA president said the RMG industry targets to achieve US$100 billion through exports by 2030, which requires a holistic approach and support from the government.

“As we are aiming higher growth to increase our global market share in the coming days, faster and easier import export services will be required to reduce lead time and cost,” he said.

He sought all-out support from the Customs House to take the RMG industry to a new high.

Customs Commissioner Nurul Huda Azad assured of cooperation and support in this regard.
