DB detains ‘arms trader’ in Chittagong

Detective branch of police (DB) during a raid arrested a suspected arms trader from Kaptai road area under Chandgaon thana of Chittagong on early Tuesday.

Mirza Sayem Mahmud, Additional Deputy Commissioner of DB, said they launched a drive in the area on secret information, nabbed Mizanur Rahman Mizan (28), a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, and seized one-barrel pistol, one round of cartridge and the auto-rickshaw.

In primary investigation, Mizan said that he had long involvement in supplying arms to snatchers and robbers of the city, according to a local media report.
