Singer Subir Nandi dies in Singapore hospital

Revered singer Subir Nandi has died at the Singapore General Hospital after suffering multiple heart attacks, says a doctor. He was 66.

Doctor Samanta Lal Sen in Dhaka, who supervised the singer’s deteriorating health conditions and treatment arrangements in Singapore, confirmed the death news.

Subir Nandi had suffered the fourth heart attack during his ongoing ailment at the Singapore hospital on Monday, he said. 

Dr Sen, also the coordinator of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burns unit, was supervising the revered singer's treatment arrangements on instructions from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, bdnews24.com reported.

Subir Nandi, an Ekushey Padak winner, was taken to Singapore on April 30. He was first admitted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on April 14 after he fell ill on his way to the capital from Sylhet.

He was shifted to the coronary care unit when his condition worsened. Later, he was put on life support. PM Hasina then suggested he be sent to Singapore for advanced treatment.
