Rangpur division sees 14.97pc COVID-19 recovery

Twenty-five coronavirus (COVID-19) infected people already recovered out of total 167 detected patients till Saturday with the current recovery rate of 14.97 percent in Rangpur division.

Health officials said five more COVID-19 infected patients recovered on Saturday after their treatments at the isolation units of different hospitals or homes raising their number to 25 in the division.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said that the total number of COVID-19 infected patients jumped to 167 with detected of more 24 positive cases in Rangpur division on Saturday.

“Since the beginning, 25 coronavirus infected patients recovered and returned home in Rangpur division with four in Rangpur, nine in Nilphamari, eight in Kurigram, three in Thakurgaon and one in Kurigram districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Currently, the recovery rate stands at 14.97 percent among the infected patients in Rangpur division where the trend will increase onward as the infected persons are getting treatments at the isolation units of different hospitals or at home.

“So far, two coronavirus patients with one each of Nilphamari and Gaibandha died currently showing the death rate of 1.97 percent for the COVID-19 infected patients in Rangpur division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

He said the 24 newly detected coronavirus patients in Rangpur division on Saturday include five each of Rangpur and Nilphamari, four each of Kurigram and Gaibandha and three each of Thakurgaon and Dinajpur districts.

“The district-wise break of detected COVID-19 patients now stands at 51 in Rangpur, eight in Panchagarh, 21 in Nilphamari, three in Lalmonirhat, 22 in Kurigram, 19 in Thakurgaon and 20 in Dinajpur and 23 Gaibandha districts of the division.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Amin Ahmed Khan told BSS that a total of 25,646 people were put in home or institutional quarantine and 19,417 of them released in Rangpur division where 6,229 are remaining in quarantine today.

“During the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today, a total of 478 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 394 others were released in the division,” he said.

Since the beginning, 810 people were put in institutional quarantine and 490 of them released so far and 320 are now remaining in institutional quarantine at different institutions of the division.

“Besides, a total of 167 COVID-19 patients were put in isolation in the Isolation Centres of different government hospitals and of them, 25 released and 142 are undergoing treatments,” Dr. Khan said.

Currently, 15 dedicated hospitals for COVID-19 patients with 13 beds and 13 ventilators in the intensive care units of two government hospitals in Rangpur and Dinajpur are providing treatments to coronavirus patients.

“Besides, coronavirus patients are getting treatments at 2.552 beds in 10 Quarantine Centres and 15 Isolation Centres in Rangpur division where some private sector hospitals might be used for the purpose when necessary,” he added, reports BSS.
