Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her new cabinet colleagues on Wednesday paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his final resting place at Tungipara.

The prime minister paid tributes to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his graveyard marking the installation of her government for the third consecutive term.

After laying the wreaths, Hasina stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to Bangabandhu, the architect of independence.

A smartly turned out contingent drawn from the three forces gave a guard of honour to the prime minister, while the bugle played the last post.

Bangabandhu's younger daughter Sheikh Rehana was also present, reports UNB.

The prime minister offered fateha and joined a special munajat seeking eternal peace of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August-15 carnage.

Later, accompanied by her cabinet colleagues and senior Awami League leaders, Hasina placed another wreath at Bangabandhu's shrine.

She also joined a milad and doa mahfil held on the Bangabandhu's Mausoleum premises.

Advisers to the prime minister, AL parliament members and central leaders, cabinet secretary, secretaries concerned to the prime minister as well as senior civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.
