Plane hijacking suspect was a listed criminal of Narayanganj: RAB

The lone plane hijacking suspect was a listed criminal, according to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

They came up with this development around 17 hours after the hijacking bid at Chattogram airport on Sunday evening.

RAB director (media wing) Mufti Mahmud Khan said the suspect’s fingerprints have matched those of one listed criminal, identified as Md Palash Ahmed from Dudhghata in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon.

Fingerprints play a crucial role in criminal investigations in that a person’s fingerprints are unique and never change in life.

RAB official Khan, however, did not say for which offence Palash had entered into their criminal database with fingerprints, which is why they were able to identify him so easily.

The port city’s Shah Amanat International Aiport had to be shut for hours due to the hijacking bid on Sunday evening, when the lone suspect died in an army commando operation.
