Teachers from different non-government teachers’ training (TT) colleges have placed a five-point demand including Monthly Pay Order (MPO) system.

Private Teachers Training Colleges Teachers’ Samiti came up with the demands at a press conference organised at the Sagar -Runi Hall at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on Wednesday.

“There is no alternative to ensure quality training to the teachers for ensuring sustainable development goals,” Muhammad Nazrul Islam Khan, president of the organisation, said.

The teachers could contribute to implementing the vision 2021 and 2041 undertaken by the government, he added.

The demands are:

--Inclusion of the non-govt TT college teachers in MPO system.

--Providing home and overseas training facilities for all the teachers.

-- Setting up digital labs in every non-government TT college.

-- Allocating permanent land for non-govt TT colleges.

-- Ensuring residential facility for all teachers and employees.

In 1992, non-government teachers’ training (TT) colleges started under Dhaka University. Currently they are governed by National University.

They said that high school teachers, who received training from the non-government TT colleges, are now getting all MPO benefits.

There are 71 private teachers training colleges in the country with around 1500 teachers and employees, said Mr Nazrul while reading out the statement.

The president of the private TT college teachers’ Samiti said the inclusion in MPO system would cost the government Tk 40.00 million only and urged the prime minister to consider the matter.

General Secretary of the samiti Sheila Bernadette Gomez, Vice-Presidents-- Fatema Khatun, Ramzan Ali and Mujahid Fakir, organising secretary Md Babul Hossain and its Treasurer Shahida Akhter were present at among others.
