Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) have threatened the authorities with a tougher programme to push for realising their four-point demand, including gazette notification of the ninth wage board, Eid-ul-Fitr.

The DUJ came up with the threat at an agitation programme in front of Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Sunday.

The three other points of demand are: stopping the process of unethical layoff of media workers, disbursement of regular salary and immediate passage of media workers’ law in the parliament.

A broader demonstrations programme will be held at the same venue on Monday to press home the four points of demand, said Mollah Jalal, president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist (BFUJ).

Journalists have been agitating for the ninth wage board since 2016, with the government announcing 45 per cent dearness allowance in September 2018.
