Muhith says new govt will focus on curbing graft

Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Tuesday said the new government will give special attention to curbing corruption to keep up the country’s development trend.

“The new government will work for ensuring good governance in all sectors by curbing corruption. It will also put emphasis on creating stability in the financial sector,” he told journalists while exchanging pleasantries on the ‘New Year 2019’ at his secretariat office in the city, reports BSS.

Like in the past, Muhith said, the Awami League (AL)-led government will also give special focus on poverty alleviation.

“We achieved remarkable success in poverty alleviation in the last 10 years. We want to make the country poverty-free within the new tenure,” he added.

Responding to a question, the finance minister said if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asks him to take part in the new cabinet, he will join as he always obey the prime minister.

He said the 11th parliamentary election was held in a peaceful manner and people casted their votes in favour of Sheikh Hasina as they know that there will be no development without Sheikh Hasina.
