Jatiya Party has nominated its Secretary General Moshiur Rahman Ranga as the opposition chief whip of the 11the parliament.
A letter in this regard signed by Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad was sent to Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.
Contradicting the decision of JP Parliamentary Party to join Grand Alliance government, Ershad on Friday said his party will be the main opposition in the parliament while he will act as the Leader of the Opposition.
JP, which joined the election as the key partner of the Grand Alliance, bagged 22 seats.
In the tenth and last parliament, the party acted as the main opposition as well as being part of the government.
