The country requires an automatic frequency control system for smooth transmission of electricity being generated from renewable energy, coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear.
Efforts are there to modernise and integrate the country’s electricity transmission system.
State Minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR) Nasrul Hamid disclosed this while speaking as the chief guest at a programme organised on the occasion of submitting the final report on “Transmission plan and the PGCB’s project study,” in a city hotel.
“A bunch of new energy is being accommodated in our energy mix with the change of global climate change,” he said.
Share of clean energy and renewable energy in the country’s overall electricity generation is on rise as a consequence, he said.
More such climate friendly plants and the transmission system will be incorporated in the power system master plan, said Mr Hamid.
The government has planned to generate around 40 per cent of electricity from renewable energy sources by 2041.
The challenge remains on supplying uninterrupted electricity at affordable cost, he said.
Power Division Secretary Md Habibur Rahman, Additional Secretary Nurul Alam, Member of Planning Commission Sharifa Khan and Director of Power Grid Company India Limited Avoy Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion.
