Garment workers stage demo for unpaid wages, shutting down factory

Hundreds of garment workers staged a demonstration in the capital on Sunday in demand of their unpaid wages and benefits.

They also protested against the authorities concerned for shutting down the factory, set in Narayanganj dictrict's Fatullah, without prior notice.        

The workers of Minar Industries Pvt Ltd staged the demonstration and also formed a human chain in front of the National Press Club.

Bangladesh Shanjukta Garments Saramik Federation secretary Md Bazlur Rahman Bablu led the protest.

The agitating workers claimed that the workers went to the factory for regular work on February 14 but found it shutdown.

The workers also claimed that the owners shut down the factory by violating the section 30 of the labour law.

As many as 500 workers were employed in the factory.
