Family seeks permission for Khaleda’s treatment at United Hospital

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s family has sent a letter to the home minister seeking the ministry’s permission for her treatment at the United Hospital.

Shamim Iskander, younger brother of Khaleda Zia, submitted the letter to the home ministry on Tuesday.

In the letter, the BNP chief’s brother also mentioned that all the expenses of her treatment will be borne by him, reports UNB.

Earlier on June 9, the four personal physicians of the BNP chairperson expressed fear that she might have suffered a mild stroke at the Old Central Jail.

Later, the jail authorities took initiative to conduct medical tests requested by her personal physicians and said that all those tests would be conducted at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

Khaleda Zia on Tuesday morning refused to go to BSMMU for the necessary tests and treatment.

On February 8, Khaleda Zia was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years' rigorous imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
