Elephant dies after falling off cliff in Cox’s Bazar

A female elephant died after falling off a cliff in Panerchhara area of Eidgao range in Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila early Tuesday.

Sources at the Forest Department said a group of elephants was crossing the Panerchhara area around 1:00am when one of them slipped and fell on the road below.

The elderly elephant died immediately after the fall as it suffered severe head injuries.

North Forest Department Divisional officer Tohidul Islam said samples have been collected for tests.

The cause of death will be clear after getting the autopsy report, he said, reports UNB.
