Advance train tickets for Eid-ul-Azha holidaymakers will be available for purchase from August 8.
The tickets for August 17 journeys will be sold on that day, said Railways Minister Mazibul Hoque during a briefing on Eid tickets and special arrangements for Eid travels at the Rail Bhaban in the capital on Thursday.
Disclosing the sale plan, he said the advance tickets will be sold at the Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka and Chittagong Railway Station from Aug 8 to 12. The sale will start at 8:00am every day.
The Eid is expected to be on August 22.
From August 15, the return tickets will be sold from different districts for travels to Dhaka. The tickets will be sold in special arrangements from Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat.
Special trains will start operating to different destinations, four days before the Eid, and continue their services for seven days after the Eid.
The special train services will operate on the Dhaka-Dewanganj, Chottogram-Chandpur, Dhaka-Rajshahi, Dhaka-Dinajpur, Dhaka-Lalmonirhat and Dhaka-Khulna routes.
Besides, a Sholakia special train will run on the Eid day on Bhairab-Kishoreganj and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj routes, reports bdnews24.com.
