DMP detains 66 during anti-narcotics drive in city

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 66 people from the city in a regular anti-narcotics drive for possession of illegal drugs.

Different police stations under DMP, conducted the drives and arrested the alleged offenders from different areas of the capital in the last 24 hours ending at 6:00am on Sunday.

The drives led to seizure of 4,745 pieces of contraband yaba pills, 344 grams heroin, 1,391 bottles of phensedyl syrup, 167 local canned beers, 29 foreign canned beers, two kilograms cannabis along with some other drug items used for consumption, according to a DMP statement.

A total of 46 cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.
