DMP detains 38 drug suspects in city

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a special anti-narcotics drive arrested 48 suspects from different areas of Dhaka city for selling and consuming illegal drugs.

A special team of DMP, comprising Detective Branch (DB) of police and other law officials, launched the drives in various places of the capital, according to a DMP statement issued on Tuesday.

During the drive, law enforcers also recovered 598 pieces of sedative yaba tablets, 203 grams heroin, 172 bottles of phensedyl syrup, 11 litres local wine, 2.4 kilograms cannabis from their possessions.

A total of 37 cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.

The drive began at 6:00am on Monday and ended at 6:00am on Tuesday, the statement added.
