The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday realised over Tk 2.945 million in fines from traffic offenders.
In simultaneous drives across the city streets conducted on the day, the DMP filed a total of 5,356 cases against different modes of vehicles over traffic rule violations, according to DMP data.
Of the cases, 1,105 were lodged for wrong side driving, 90 for using hydraulic horns, seven for using hooters and beacon lights, and 16 others for installing tinted glasses on their vehicles.
Police also filed 2,377 cases against motorcyclists and seized 122 others for breaching traffic rules. It also filed cases against 13 bikers for using mobile phones while driving.
In addition, the DMP dumped 14 vehicles and wrecked 797 others during the drives.
