Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday realised Tk 2.717 million in fines from traffic offenders in the city.
Besides, a total of 4,846 cases were also filed against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules, DMP said in a statement.
Of the cases, 931 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 107 for using hydraulic horns, seven for using hooters and beacon lights, and 14 others for using tinted glasses.
As for traffic violations by motorcycles, the traffic division filed 1,954 cases and seized 106 motorcycles.
A total of 14 motorcyclists faced cases for using mobile phones while driving.
Apart from this, the traffic police also dumped 24 vehicles and wrecked 725 others during the drive.
