Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday realised Tk 2.228 million in fines from traffic offenders in the city.
Besides, a total of 4,106 cases were also filed against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules, DMP said in a statement.
Of the cases, 590 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 33 for using hydraulic horns, five for using hooters and beacon lights, and 11 others for using tinted glasses.
As for traffic violations by motorcycles, the traffic division filed 2,317 cases and seized 1,339 motorcycles.
A total of 12 motorcyclists faced cases for using mobile phones while driving.
Apart from this, the traffic police also dumped nine vehicles and wrecked 1,845 others during the drive.
