Daily Covid-19 caseload crosses 300 mark after three weeks

Bangladesh has registered 312 new cases of Covid-19 infection in the 24 hours to 8 am on Wednesday.

The COVID-19 caseload rose to 1,574,948 with the latest infections. Earlier last October 29, the country recorded 305 cases, reports bdnews24.com.

Three new deaths from Covid-19 were also detected in 24 hours, taking the total toll to 27,961, according to the latest government data.

Dhaka recorded the most cases among the eight divisions, logging 244 infections.

Nationwide, another 338 people recovered from the illness, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,539,193.

As many as 21,002 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 1.49 per cent. The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.73 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.78 per cent.

Globally, over 258.90 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 5.16 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
